About Clitheroe
Clitheroe is set in the picturesque Ribble Valley in the heart of Lancashire. A bustling market town with excellent retail, tourism and business opportunities Clitheroe has seen a resurgence as an independent tourist destination as so many town centres are begining to struggle to survive.
Just over a mile away from the Forest of Bowland, Clitheroe has a population of around 15,000 and the castle which dominates the skyline is reported to be one of the smallest Norman keeps in the country.
Historic Clitheroe
To the side of the Castle is the Museum which holds exhibits relating to the geology and history in the area as well as displaying local works of art at it's regular showcase events. There are lots of activities and workshops run for children and the Castle grounds are an ideal area to use to relax and unwind.
Clitheroe's shopping centre is an independent shopping dream, with markets held in the town every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Ribble Valley is asle one of the UK's top locations for fine foods with Clitheroe firm at the centre.
Clitheroe Art
As well as the Castle area art lovers can take advantage of the art shops in the town centre and the Platform Gallery sits within the old railway station building dating from 1870. Inside is a selection of contemporary craft exhibitions which the gallery hosts throughout the year as well as on on-site shop and purchasing opportunity.
